Groundbreaking Ceremony on October 15
On October 15, 2024, Bethany officially broke ground on the new Bethany Calgary care home, a significant step forward in the two-decade redevelopment journey.
Special guests included the Honourable Adriana LaGrange, Minister of Health; Kathleen Ganley, MLA for Calgary Mountainview; and City of Calgary Councillor Terry Wong, who joined the groundbreaking celebration. In addition, the event provided an opportunity to celebrate the hard work and dedication of Bethany Care Society Boards who tirelessly worked to make this vision a reality. Thank you to current Board Chair Dr. Albert Kryski, along with former Chairs Madeleine King and Jerry Rasmuson and their respective Boards.
Upon completion, the new Bethany Calgary care home will offer 420 private continuing care rooms with private ensuites, providing seniors and adults with disabilities a warm, home-like environment. The care home will feature community-focused spaces, including a bistro, outdoor courtyards, enrichment areas, and gathering spaces. Care will be delivered in a small-home model, with each 14-room “home” sharing dining and living spaces and reflecting its own unique character, creating a welcoming, neighborhood-like feel.
The construction of the 370,000 square foot building is targeted for completion in late fall 2027.
In addition to the funding provided by the Government of Alberta, Bethany Care Foundation will be launching a capital campaign in Fall 2024 to raise $20M for the new Bethany Calgary.
