Funding Announced for the Redevelopment of Bethany Calgary
In April 2023, former Health Minister Jason Copping announced the Government of Alberta’s funding commitment towards the redevelopment of Bethany Care Society’s Bethany Calgary care centre. Bethany will receive a total of $114 million for the Bethany Calgary Redevelopment Project to construct a modern seniors’ residence featuring 420 private continuing care spaces.
This new seniors’ residence would replace the Bethany Calgary Auxiliary Hospital and will be built on the existing property, which is already zoned for the proposed use. There will be no loss of system capacity throughout construction, and residents will remain in their current homes during redevelopment on the site. The new continuing care home will also support Bethany’s campus of care model that encompasses physical environment, social connections, health and wellness services and partnerships with the community.
