Road Work Starting April 14

City of Calgary street tie-in work near the Bethany Calgary site is scheduled to begin on April 14, 2025. This work is part of the ongoing redevelopment of Bethany Calgary and will require temporary road and sidewalk closures along 8 Avenue NW and 17 Street NW.

What to Expect:

  • Phase 1 (April 14–15): Crews will begin on the NE corner of 17 Street, disconnecting the old water service from the site of the former Bethany Corporate Office.

    • Water will be shut off on April 14 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

    • Affected residents will receive 48 hours' notice.

  • Phase 2 (April 15–20): Storm and sewer tie-ins will be completed on the west side of 8 Avenue NW.

  • Phase 3 (April 17–20): Water service tie-in work will take place on the SE corner of 8 Avenue NW.

    • A water shut-off is planned for April 17 (8 hours); 48 hours’ notice will be provided to impacted residents in advance.

Impacts:

  • Full road closure on 8 Avenue NW between 17 Street and 18 Street NW from April 15-24/25.

  • Sidewalk and road closures will be in effect 24/7 during the work, in accordance with the City-approved traffic control plan.

  • Detour signage will be in place, provided by the City of Calgary.

  • Safe pedestrian and vehicle access will be maintained throughout construction.
